Smart Buildings in Government and Education for Environmental Sustainability

As we celebrate Earth Day this year, governments and education organizations are looking to further their environmental efforts in helping make our planet cleaner and more sustainable. Technology can play a fundamental role in supporting them on these efforts. Today, managers can reduce energy costs by centrally monitoring, controlling, and building automation systems. Ciscos Bruce Klein, SVP for the U.S. Public Sector organization, joins us today and explains two great examples on how a state government as Missouri has reduced its energy consumption by 18% and is saving more than $100,000 for just one of its 3,800 buildings per year. And on the education side, Klein explains how Ave Maria University in Florida is saving $1 million in building costs from eliminating redundant wiring and cabling, and is estimating an annual savings of $600,000 from utility usage efficiencies.
